Fishermen’s Safety Protection Scheme

The Self-Employed Social Security Scheme (SKSPS) by the Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) was first implemented in August 2020 to replace the Fishermen’s Group Insurance Protection Scheme. The number of fishermen covered by the scheme is different each year based on the number of fishermen eligible to receive ESHN. While the number of fishermen who received compensation as well as the amount of compensation paid is based on the number of accidents and claims made to SOCSO referring to Table 31.
