Introduction
The QFISH programme is a rebranding of the LKIM People’s Fish Programme that was introduced in 2013. This branding started in May 2016 and was launched on 6 December 2016 by the Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism, Datuk Henry Sum Agong in conjunction with the launch of the Malaysia Seafood Exposition (MySE).
QFISH is fresh fish frozen using Individual Quick Freezing (IQF) technology. A total of 8 species of local favorite fish were selected, namely Kembung (Indian Mackerel), Selar (Yellowtail Scad), Pelaling (Indian Mackerel), Selayang (Roundscad), Cencaru (Torpedo Scad), Tilapia, Keli (Catfish) and Aya/Tongkol (Skipjack Tuna). The maximum selling price is RM10.00 per kilogram to help the B40 low-income group.
