KUBENA is an unofficial organization that operates under the supervision of the Fishermen’s Association.

The establishment of KUBENA is important to facilitate LKIM in coordinating or channelling aids as well as making it easier for LKIM to carry out activities in the Fishing Family Development sub-programme which aims to create happy families.

The children of fishermen can play an important role in increasing family income by carrying out economic activities through the Fishermen’s Youth Group (KUBENA).

Establishment objectives of KUBENA

• To produce educated and skilled fishing youth
• To train young fishermen who are independent and team players
• To create fishing youth communities with morals and ethics
• To create youth leaders who are important assets for the country in human capital development.

Establishment conditions

• This group can be established with a minimum of 10 members.
• To appoint a Group Leader, Assistant Leader, Secretary and Committee of 6 to 8 people.
• To hold a meeting at least once a year and provide minutes of the meeting.

Membership requirements

• A fishermen’s family member associated to a Fishermen’s Association.
• PNK members aged between 18 and 40 years old.
• Children of Fishermen’s Association members aged 15 to 40 years old.
